The Albany State Golden Rams men and women’s basketball teams were defeated at home in a SIAC matchup against the Lane Dragons. The Golden Rams women lost (67-57) to the Dragons. With the loss, the Golden Rams women fell to (3-5) overall and (1-2) in the SIAC. The Dragons improved to (5-1) overall and (3-0) in the SIAC.
Kashay Hankerson led the Golden Rams with 21 points. Kayla Milner contributed with 13 points. As a team, the Golden Rams shot 46.2% from the field and 45.5% from the 3-point line. The Golden Rams only made 28.6% of their free throw attempts.
Kayla Simmons led the Dragons with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Brailyn Tate finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds while Jordyn Neal contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
The Golden Rams men lost (63-62) to the Dragons. The Golden Rams fell to (2-6) overall and (2-1) in the SIAC. The Lane College men improved to (4-3) overall and (2-2) in the SIAC. After trailing for most of the game, the Dragons hit a 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining to give them a 1-point lead over the Golden Rams. A half court attempt by the Golden Rams fell short.
Jamir Moore led the Golden Rams with 13 points. Moore connected on (3-5) from the three point line. Travis Baker finished with 10 points. Baker was (4-5) from the field.
As a team, the Golden Rams shot 42.6% from the field. The Golden Rams made (8-21) of their 3-point attempts. But, the Golden Rams only made (8-16) of their free attempts.
Justin Sylver led the Dragons with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Jesse Payne finished with 10 points and 5 assists. Chancellor Wright contributed with 10 points.
On Monday, the Golden Rams will host LeMoyne-Owen College at The Jones Brothers Health, Physical Education and Recreation Complex on the ASU East Campus. The women will play at 5:30 pm and the men will follow at 7:30 pm.
